Sometimes ignorance IS bliss

15 April 2011 | 2 comments | Tagged: , , ,

So having made this new version of dragonchoice.com live, I’ve added Google Analytics tracking, set up a plugin to generate an XML sitemap to the major search engines when the site is updated, and re-verified it in Google Webmaster Tools.

It’ll take a few days for everything to settle down and the old Dragonchoice website URLs to work their way out of the index.

But when I checked Webmaster Tools to see – out of interest – what the most popular keywords were for Google searches coming into the site, guess what I found?

Top three search queries

1. dragons mating
2. dragon mating
3. mating dragons

You only get the first reference to ‘dragonriders of pern’ at #4. So basically most of the bandwidth on this site is being used by pervs.

Nice.

Hey, you people, the ones searching for dragons mating. You want titillation? Go find it elsewhere!

Okay, I acknowledge that a) there are three or four mating flight images in the gallery, b) there are mating flights in the stories, and c) maybe, just maybe, those searches were done by people wanting to know more about the Weyr’s fascinating social and cultural attitudes to sex.

None of that excuses the 8th most popular search query that gives this site as a result:

8. people mating with dragons

Bloody pervs! Go away!

Not this read or re-reader as the case may be, ‘snorthing’ for the ‘love of little dragons’ from Dragonseye/Red Star Rising, this shows that even when no Threads are falling, that the dragons and riders do their duities, even with a few of those who use their power to do not right for the Weyr/Hold/Hall and the showing of the all the colors working together, one comes to mind, that ‘new broom sweeps clean’ both Dragonseye/Red Star Rising, and The MasterHaper of Pern. All book are Anne McCaffrey’s works, I use them to help explain myself.

…nope, not a clue what you’re getting at?!
