"The story is a well written, well thought out story, with very few, well, actually, no grammar mistakes. Dragonchoice is a smooth, interesting, fun read that captures and keeps your attention.
The artwork is superb, what with the characters/dragons/objects being represented really coming out in fine detail.
Wonderful overall."
"First, I've enjoyed all I've read. This is almost the only fanfic (as opposed to role playing) Pern site I've found. I am curious as to why you've used a completely alternate time line instead of using an existing Weyr and timeline (say in another Interval)?
The ending of Dragonchoice I thought was a bit anti-climatic. It would have been nice to read the reactions of some of T'kamen's "enemies" to his changes in Weyr management. The emphasis on C'los and C'mine and their relationship was somewhat unexpected. But the story was still one I could stop reading (oh **** look at the time!)
But overall I enjoyed the story and look forward to the rest of Dragonchoice II (I'm champing at the bit here!) I hope other sites soon pop up with more Pern fanfic...it keeps my (recently renewed) habit fed....
As for the artwork...I do know regarding dragon size that in some of the "canon" books the size range is specified in meters (40-45 meters for queens in "Moreta") But some looks like what I'd expect (especially when it shows people) and some for the dragons. Though I'm sorry but Pernese dragons do NOT have horns or scales - that is Dungeons and Dragons!
Great work...I don't mean to nitpick, but one does tend to concentrate on the negative. But in the big picture, if it were a novel, I would have bought it to read, and I'd have recommended it to others."
"Brilliant.
I couldn't believe it when I started reading. I ended up reading Dragonchoice in one night, from eight pm to four am . It's just that good, I couldn't stop reading ad go to sleep. I just had to know what would happen next. One of the best stories I've ever seen - reminds me of Anne McCaffrey's books, and that's to say a lot, for not many people have her way of writing that intrigues me so.
And I must praise everyone who helped to do those fabulous drawings. I myself like to draw and sketch, but I have still to master the skill of drawing dragons. Two thumbs up to all of you and continue the great work, I eagerly await chapter four in Dragonchosen.
Keep up the good work - the drawings just keep getting better and better. I liked the drawing of the brown [Trebruth, by Ssthisto] in the middle of chapter three. I was just thinking how the dragon would look on my mind when I saw the picture. Exactly as I thought he would look!"
"Just finished Dragonchoice and loved it. Can't wait to read Dragonchoice II."
"Amazing, truly amazing.
I was captivated the entire time.
The suspense throughout was horrible! I was on the edge of my seat, praying C'mine would live, hoping against hope that T'kamen would make it back in time, wondering what it would mean if he failed to secure the Weyrleadership.
A splendid work of art. Keep it up! I look forward to reading Dragonchosen."
"I have only read the first three chapters of Dragonchoice. I started reading it on the computer, and very soon I was hooked. I copied it all onto paper, and made my own book in plastic slip pages (I don't want anything to happen to it!) I have been reading it since then.
This book has such great characters, and it reads so fast - there are no slow or uncomfortable places that don't fit. I am amazed to find this here. I am new to the computer, I admit, but this is fantastic. That this is here for me to read and enjoy - WHY? This should be in Barnes and Noble when I go in the door as the new great Sci-Fi of the year!"
"I wish I could give useful concrit on the story. I can't - it's too well written for me to be able to do it. I don't find the frequent changes of POV as readable as the canon novels, but that's just the way it goes when you tell a story from many different viewpoints. I do much prefer it to telling the same story twice in different novels.
Not concrit, but I'm a very picky proofreader, and I can't find anything wrong at all. So in short, I'm a very happy reader, and looking forward to more.
I'm afraid none of the main artwork works for me so far. The artists are all amazingly talented (and I'm a stick figure level artist, I'm in awe of how good they are) but my image of the dragons is what we get on the covers of the UK editions, and I think it always will be. I do really like the little stylised circular thingies during the chapters."
