Anne McCaffrey is the creator of Pern and the Dragonriders of Pern®.
Faye Upton is the author of Dragonchoice and Dragonchoice 2. The two stories started life in 2001, posted on the then-new Fan Fiction Forums on Anne McCaffrey’s Kitchen Table website – the only place outside Pern fan clubs that one could circulate Dragonriders fan fiction at that time.
After feedback posts and emails established a demand for copies of the finished story, Faye promised to produce a polished final version, with the possibility of an illustration or two to accompany it. It took a year and a half, but with the help of eight artists and the addition of an impressive twenty pictures, the illustrated Dragonchoice was the result.
Dragonchoice 2 followed two years after Dragonchoice debuted at the Kitchen Table, and its illustrated version – with an even higher word count and even more illustrations – was completed in 2005.
As for Dragonchoice 3 – it’s not out of the question, but don’t get too excited.
