Your dragon is emerald-green Rosleath, and if you had any expectation of being a model weyrling, respected by peers and Weyrlingmaster alike – well, honestly, just forget it. It's never going to happen.

Because Rosleath is trouble. And not just the sort of goofy, playful trouble of, say, her sister Ishkinth – but Trouble, capital T, multiple underlines. Practically the first thing she ever did was rip off a piece of your candidate robe – and if she'd ripped more, and left you half naked on the Sands before the entire Weyr, you sense she'd have snickered and asked what you were so ashamed of.

The problem is that Rosleath's clever – much more clever than a typical green. And she's big, too, although the Weyrlingmaster doesn't think she'll be bigger than the blues and browns for long, once they all start growing. But she's fearless, a straight-faced liar, and devious beyond any expectation you might have had of a green dragonet.

Harnessed properly, that clever mind could do a great deal for the other greens in the Weyr. And that's up to you. But in the meantime, you'd better watch out for tunnelsnakes in your bed...not that Rosleath will ever confess to putting them there...
